Enjoy an environmentally friendly holiday & vacation rental in downtown Lisbon!

Our philosophy: Think green, be green and save green

In the heart of the city, otherwise known as the Baixa – literally  meaning downtown – one will find the Lisbon Green Sardine, the perfect place to stay in, while visiting and discovering Portugal’s enchanting capital.

Conveniently located near many tourist attractions and all major transportation (trams, buses, trains – towards Sintra & Cascais, access to riverfront boats to get to the “other side” of the Tejo and 3 different metro lines), the Lisbon Green Sardine is a 1789 eco” flat / apartment that has been fully renovated and restored, showcasing all of its original 18th-century architectural highlights.

By reinforcing an eco-friendly attitude and lifestyle, without sacrificing the quality of comfort and design, the Lisbon Green Sardine is a home away from home for travelers with a greener conscience.

Just how green is the Lisbon Green Sardine…Well for starters some of our eco-features include the following:

  • Class A+ energy efficient appliances (refrigerator, oven, dish & clothes washer)
  • Salvaged materials from building demolitions used in the renovation process such as: - 200 year old wooden doors and window shutters – a 1940′s free standing bathtub – a marble counter top and stone sink for the kitchen – and ceramic encaustic floor tiles , which is a non-fired green product, created using basic earth components and natural pigments.  This artisan manufacturing process was very popular during the 19th century and it has not changed since the Middle Ages.
  • Doubled paned windows for better insulation and noise reduction
  • Found furniture and other discarded decor objects which have been renewed and revamped
  • Recycled china from several grandmas
  • Vintage and reclaimed light fixtures for the ceiling
  • Energy efficient light bulbs and smart power strips to encourage the manual elimination of phantom energy use
  • Restoration of 18th-century tiles which were discovered during the remodeling
  • Water-based latex paints without the harmful chemicals used for the walls
  • Water filter to purify tap water instead of guests buying bottled water
  • Individual canisters to separate garbage
